The rebirth of the FiftyFive

When this Itama FiftyFive entered our hub, we immediately understood that the project would require much more than an aesthetic intervention.

Its identity deserved to be preserved. Its structure, mechanics, and systems required a thorough job, capable of restoring reliability, prestige, and full efficiency to the yacht.

Thus began a complete three-month refit: a path built through technical competence, artisanal precision, and absolute respect for the original project.

The mechanical heart

After the engines were removed, the inspection revealed a widespread presence of oxidation and corrosion.

We therefore initiated an extraordinary maintenance operation, opening and disassembling the top part of the propellers to carefully check their condition and intervene on any critical issues.

A complex job, essential for re-establishing reliability, performance, and safety.

In a refit of this level, mechanics represent the starting point: aesthetics restore beauty to the yacht, while the work on the engines allows it to truly sail again.

The hull restored to its origins

The hull underwent a "zero" treatment, through a water sandblasting that eliminated the previous layers of product and restored the surface to its original condition.

This procedure allows for direct analysis of the support, identification of any imperfections, and correct reconstruction of the entire protective cycle.

The preparation of the hull affects the protection of the hull, hydrodynamic efficiency, and the yacht's behavior while sailing. It is an intervention that is little visible once completed, but decisive for the overall quality of the refit.

The blue regains depth

For the sides and the superstructure, we chose a double-layer Imron Marine painting cycle.

The process involved:

  • two coats of color, to achieve uniformity and visual depth;
  • a transparent finish, designed to enhance reflections and protect the surfaces from exposure to marine agents.

The result restores the hull's characteristic intense blue, making it deeper, brighter, and more contemporary, in full respect of the Itama identity.

Teak and custom details

The teak was completely restored at the bow, faithfully reproducing the original design of the deck.

The installation required precision in geometry, joints, and alignments, so that the new covering maintained the aesthetic balance of the project.

The external upholstery was reinterpreted according to the owner's preferences. The traditional white gave way to a light technical gray, more contemporary and able to dialogue with the blue of the hull, the teak, and the elements of the cockpit.

A cockpit with a racing character

The command station was completely covered in real carbon, reinforcing the sporty character of the FiftyFive.

The carbon introduces a more technical and dynamic visual component, consistent with the performance and the driving sensation typical of the model.

The navigation electronics were also updated with a new generation of Raymarine Axiom Pro instruments, integrating:

  • GPS and cartography;
  • autopilot;
  • Tridata navigation data;
  • more evolved control and visualization systems.

The update allows for clearer reading of information, more immediate management of on-board functions, and a safer and more intuitive navigation experience.

The interiors regain harmony

Below deck, the project involved the complete replacement of the carpet and the creation of a new internal sofa.

Materials, tones, and craftsmanship were chosen to renew the atmosphere while maintaining the yacht's original character.

The goal was to create fresher, more elegant, and welcoming environments, capable of accompanying the external transformation without altering the FiftyFive's identity.

The work that remains invisible

The quality of a refit is recognized above all in the interventions that, once completed, remain hidden.

For this reason, the project also included:

  • balancing and aligning the propellers;
  • replacing the bushings;
  • intervening on the propeller shafts;
  • revising the generator;
  • revising the desalinator;
  • checking and restoring the air conditioning system;
  • comprehensive verification of the on-board systems.

The balancing of the propellers reduces vibrations and stresses on the shaft line. Bushings and shafts in perfect condition ensure more regular transmission of power. The revision of the systems guarantees comfort, autonomy, and reliability during on-board stays.

Every intervention contributes to the final result, even when it remains out of sight.
