THE REFIT PROJECT
Preserving the Yacht's Original Identity

The objective of this project was clear: to restore the yacht to her highest standards while preserving the unmistakable identity that defines every Riva.

On a yacht of such iconic character, every intervention demands expertise, sensitivity and respect. Materials, colours and finishes must remain faithful to the original design, while every element marked by time must be restored to the level of quality that belongs to this exceptional model.

The refit therefore followed two complementary objectives: the aesthetic restoration of the yacht and the meticulous recreation of her most distinctive original details.

Restoring Depth and Brilliance to the Exterior

The first phase of the project focused on a complete polishing of the yacht.

Every exterior surface was carefully treated to restore its original shine and uniformity, while targeted paint corrections were carried out along the hull sides, precisely colour-matched to blend seamlessly with the yacht's original finish.

Polishing a yacht of this size is a meticulous, multi-stage process. Every surface must be carefully assessed, prepared and treated according to its specific paint system, finish and material.

The result restores the remarkable depth of Riva's signature anthracite hull while renewing the elegant contrast with the sand-coloured superstructure.

A Brand-New Teak Deck

The entire exterior teak deck was completely removed and replaced.

Teak is one of the yacht's defining aesthetic and functional features. It shapes the deck's geometry, guides movement throughout the exterior spaces and creates visual continuity across the entire yacht.

Replacing it requires absolute precision—from preparing the underlying structure to laying each individual plank, aligning every section and finishing every caulking seam.

The new teak deck restores elegance, consistency and durability, ensuring the yacht is once again ready to withstand years of exposure to sunlight, saltwater and the marine environment.

Recreating the Original Colour Palette

Below deck, all carpeting was replaced.

This presented a unique challenge: identifying a carpet whose colour perfectly matched the one originally selected by the Riva Shipyard.

Even the slightest variation would have altered the balance between the wood finishes, leather upholstery, polished surfaces and fabrics. For this reason, we worked directly with the Riva Shipyard to source the material that most faithfully reflected the original specification.

The new carpeting blends naturally into every interior, as though it had always been part of the yacht.

At the same time, the interior flooring was completely refinished and restored to its original appearance, recovering its brightness, depth and perfectly uniform finish.

Luxury Lies in the Details

On board a Riva, soft furnishings are an integral part of the yacht's design.

Bedspreads, linens, fabrics and accessories all follow precise standards of quality, texture, colour and craftsmanship. Recreating them requires a deep understanding of the brand's aesthetic and an appreciation for details that might easily go unnoticed at first glance.

For this reason, we carried out extensive research to faithfully reproduce every textile element.

The following items were replaced:

bedspreads;
bed linen;
soft furnishings;
mattresses;
coordinated cabin accessories.

This is where the true quality of a refit becomes evident: in the ability to devote the same level of care to the smallest details as to the largest surfaces.

Renewed Comfort

The replacement of the mattresses completed the restoration of the accommodation areas.

Each mattress was selected according to the exact dimensions of the cabins, while taking into account support, ventilation and the level of comfort expected aboard a luxury yacht.

What may appear to be a simple replacement becomes a bespoke project in itself. Every component must fit perfectly within the available space, respect the yacht's original layout and integrate seamlessly with the surrounding furnishings.

The result is an interior that feels renewed not only in appearance but also in the quality of everyday life on board.

Six Months of Dedicated Work

From the initial Refit & Repair concept to the final delivery, the project took six months to complete.

Considering the extent of the work and the exceptional level of precision required, this represents a significant achievement.

The result was made possible through meticulous planning, collaboration with highly specialised partners and continuous monitoring throughout every phase of the project.

The yacht was transferred to the Puntaldia Shipyard, where every aspect of the refit could be personally supervised from start to finish.

Elica's Direct Supervision

Entrusting a yacht to a refit project means placing its value, heritage and future in someone else's hands.

That is why every Elica project is personally managed from beginning to end.

Throughout the six-month refit, Bruno Dessì personally visited the shipyard at least once a week to monitor progress, coordinate with specialist contractors and ensure the highest standards of workmanship.

This continuous presence allowed us to:

ensure every stage remained true to the approved project;
respond promptly to any technical requirements;
coordinate the various specialist teams involved;
verify materials and finishes;
keep the owner continuously informed;
guarantee consistency and quality through to final delivery.

The result is a refit that is carefully managed, closely monitored and tailored around the unique identity of each yacht.

BEFORE THE REFIT

When she first arrived, the Riva 68 Ego Super still possessed all the timeless elegance that defines this iconic model. However, the exterior surfaces, teak decking, interior flooring, fabrics and soft furnishings all showed clear signs that a comprehensive restoration was needed.

The challenge was to restore every element while remaining completely faithful to Riva's original identity, selecting materials capable of returning the yacht to the same harmony, elegance and refinement with which she was originally conceived.
